Taxonomy
Asaphus devexus was named by Eichwald (1840) [lectotype designated by Ivantsov 2000]. Its type specimen is DHG SPbSU, no. 1-1211 (lectotype), a pygidium, and it is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Xenasaphus, Xenasaphus (Xenasaphus).
It was recombined as Xenasaphus devexus by Jaanusson (1953); it was recombined as Xenasaphus (Xenasaphus) devexus by Ivantsov (2000).
