Eoshumardia cylindrica was named by Shergold (1971). Its type specimen is CPC 9768, a cephalon/head, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Gola Beds B750, which is in a Franconian/Trempealeauan marine lime mudstone in Australia.
