Taxonomy
Archaemegaptilus blakelyi was named by Beckemeyer and Engel (2018). Its type specimen is University of Alabama Museum of Natural History PI2015.0017.001, a hindwing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Cahaba Living River Retreat, which is in a Westphalian A terrestrial shale in the Pottsville Formation of Alabama.
