Taxonomy
Spondylus inezana was named by Wiedey (1928). Its type specimen is SDSNH 29, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is LSJU loc. 437, Wiley Canyon, which is in a Miocene coastal sandstone in the Vaqueros Formation of California.
