Moschops koupensis was named by Boonstra (1957). It is not extant.

Synonyms
  • Pnigalion oweni was named by Watson (1914). It is not extant. Its type locality is De Cypher farm, which is in a Capitanian terrestrial siliciclastic in the Abrahamskraal Formation of South Africa.

    It was recombined as Moschops oweni by Boonstra (1969); it was synonymized subjectively with Moschops koupensis by Atayman et al. (2009).
