E. Perrier 1928Bords postérieur et supérieur de l'orbite formés par le post-frontal, qui est très allongé et en exclut le frontal. Écailles petites, verruqueuses ou épineuses, non imbriquées; narines sous le museau, rapprochées l'une de l'autre. Aquatiques, vivant dans les fleuves, les estuaires et surtout la mer, où ils s'aventurent jusqu'a 3 ou 4 milles des côtes. Piscivores. Vivipares.
