Synaptichnium argantobrivense was named by Demathieu and Gand (1981). It is considered to be a form taxon. It is a trace fossil. Its type locality is Pont d'Argent Quarry, bed 4 tracksite, which is in an Anisian/Ladinian lagoonal sandstone/claystone in the Grès d'Antully Formation of France.
