It was assigned to Leptonacea by Glenn (1904) and Newell (1965); to Galeommatacea by Vokes (1980) and Beu et al. (1990); to Leptonoidea by Marquet (2005); and to Galeommatoidea by Coan et al. (2000), Nevesskaja (2009), Bouchet et al. (2010) and Carter et al. (2011).
