Taxonomy
Cucullaea (Idonearca) alamoensis was named by Anderson (1958). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is CAS Loc. 1346, Ono, which is in an Albian marine siliciclastic in the Budden Canyon Formation of California.

Anderson 1958 | The shell is of medium size, subtriangular in outline, elongated, length exceeding height, moderately inflated ; umbones tumid, with strongly angulated umbonal ridges sloping to the rear; shell somewhat squarely truncated in front, bearing brief winglike expansions before and behind; base broadly rounded; hinge long, set with about 8 short, nearly vertical teeth, and 3 strong lateral teeth before, and apparently the same number behind ; ligamental area of moderate height, showing 6 or 7 chevronlilce grooves beneath beak; beaks small, prominent, incurved, but not closely approximate; test thick, surface smooth, though marked by nuĀ merous growth lines, and also by radial lines below beak, most clearly seen on median layers of shell, especially on anterior half. |
