Anderson 1958The shell is of moderate size, subcircular in outline or often subquadrate; shell inflated, surface marked by fine radial riblets near the beak, becoming coarser with growth; beaks central, the sides forming an angle of about 125 degrees; hinge plate as shown (Fig. 10), having about 8 or 10 nearly vertical teeth near the center, and about 6 heavier and more oblique teeth; interior margin in more mature examples set with about 36 denticles.
