Taxonomy

Neverita globosa was named by Gabb (1869) [m. kosnik taxon no: 10129].

It was replaced with Natica fiasco by Hanna (1924); it was recombined as Neverita (Glossaulax) globosa by Givens and Kennedy (1976); it was recombined as Neverita (Neverita) globosa by Marincovich (1977), Squires (1984), Squires (1987) and Squires (1999).

Sister species lacking formal opinion data

N. potomacensis, N. pachystoma, Polinices eucallosus

Synonyms

Neverita weaveri was named by Dickerson (1915). Its type specimen is CAS 278 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is CAS loc. 183, Big Bend of Cowlitz River, which is in a Bartonian marine mudstone/sandstone in the Cowlitz Formation of Washington.

It was synonymized subjectively with Neverita secta by Stewart (1927); it was recombined as Polinices weaveri by Turner (1938); it was synonymized subjectively with Neverita (Neverita) globosa by Marincovich (1977) and Squires (1984).
Neverita nomlandi was named by Dickerson (1917).

It was synonymized subjectively with Neverita (Neverita) globosa by Marincovich (1977) and Squires (1984).
Neverita globosa reefensis was named by Vokes (1939).

It was synonymized subjectively with Neverita (Neverita) globosa by Marincovich (1977) and Squires (1984).
Natica fiasco was named by Hanna (1924).

It was synonymized subjectively with Neverita globosa by Stewart (1927).
