Zardinia was named by Dieci et al. (1968) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Ladi Tr Carn Sepkoski's reference number: 941]. It is not extant. Its type is Zardinia perisulcata.
It was assigned to Calcarea by Sepkoski (2002); and to Polysiphonidae by Finks et al. (2004).
