Taxonomy
Palinura was named by Latreille (1802) [also said to be 1803]. It is extant.

It was reranked as the unranked clade Palinura by Rathbun (1926) and Hegna et al. (2020).

It was assigned to Reptantia by Rathbun (1926); to Decapoda by Feldmann et al. (1995) and Vega et al. (2006); to Pleocyemata by Feldmann and Bearlin (1988), Feldmann and Keys (1992), Martin and Davis (2001) and Schweitzer et al. (2010); and to Achelata by Hegna et al. (2020).
