Taxonomy
Casearia was named by Quenstedt (1858) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Anis-m J Kimm Sepkoski's reference number: 2,868]. It is not extant. Its type is Spongia articulata.

It was assigned to Hexactinosa by Sepkoski (2002); to Caseariinae by Finks et al. (2004); and to Craticulariidae by Amirhassankhani et al. (2014).
