Camelotia was named by Galton (1985). It is not extant. Its type is Camelotia borealis.
It was assigned to Melanorosauridae by Galton (1985), Carroll (1988), Storrs (1993), Buffetaut (1997), Heerden and Galton (1997), Galton (1998), Galton (2001), Galton and Upchurch (2004), Galton et al. (2005) and Naish and Martill (2007); to Sauropoda by Upchurch et al. (2007), Smith and Pol (2007), Yates (2010) and Apaldetti et al. (2011); and to Sauropodiformes by Otero and Pol (2013).
