Taxonomy
Nothofagus beardmorensis was named by Hill et al. (1996). Its type specimen is USNM 486747, a leaf, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Oliver Bluffs, which is in a Miocene fine channel fill siltstone/sandstone in the Meyer Desert Formation of Antarctica.
