Calityini was named by Winkler (1924). It is extant. Its type is Calitys.

It was reranked as the subfamily Calitinae by Lawrence (1995) and Lawrence and Newton (1995); it was reranked as the subfamily Calityinae by Gimmel et al. (2019) and Cai et al. (2022).

It was assigned to Trogossitinae by Schmied et al. (2009); and to Trogossitidae by Lawrence (1995), Lawrence and Newton (1995), Gimmel et al. (2019) and Cai et al. (2022).
