Diagnosis

E. D. Cope 1869II. Teeth in a single row, cutting ; three digit bearing metatarsals.
T. H. Huxley 18701. The maxillary and mandibular teeth have obtuse subtriangular crowns; the surface of the enamel being ridged on one or both sides. The crowns of the teeth are worn down flat by mastication.
2. The anterior prolongation of the ilium is more slender than the posterior.
3. The rami of the mandible unite in an excavated edentulous symphysis, which receives an edentulous prolongation of the præmaxillæ.
4. The proximal end of the femur is as in the Scelidosauridæ.
5. There is no dermal armour.
L. Dollo 1882A single row of teeth. Three functional digits in the pes. Two symmetrical sternal plates.
K. A. v. Zittel 1890Zwischenkiefer zahnlos. Rückenwirbel platycöl. Postpubis unvollständig verknöchert, nicht bis zum Ende des Ischium reichend. Erste Zehe des Vorder/usses zu einem kräftigen Dorn umgestaltet, kürzer als fünfte Zehe. Hinterfuss dreizehig. Femur mit kammartig vorspringendem vierten Trochanter. Nur eine
funktionierev/le Reihe von Zähnen im Oberkiefer.
B. F. Nopcsa 1901Intermaxillare fogatlan. Mellsö csigolyák opistocoelek, összenött sacrumcsigolyák. Sternum csontosodott, pubes tökéletlen. Femur a tibiánál hosszabb. A kézen 5, a lábon 3 müködö újj van. Paták.

[Intermaxillary toothless. Trunk vertebrae opistocoelous, fused sacrum vertebrae. Sternum ossified, pubes imperfect. Femur longer than tibia. There are 5 working fingers on the hand and 3 on the foot. Hooves.]
B. F. Nopcsa 1901 (Ornithopodidae)Postorbitale hiányzik; alsó allkapocs koronanyujtvánnyal. Orrlyukak elöl fekszenek, nagyok, praeorbitalis nyilás kicsiny. Lábszárcsontok üresek vagy tömörek. Mellsö lábaik sokkal rövidebbek, mint a hátsók. Pubis hosszú, karcsú. (Zittel szerint, röviditve.)

[Postorbital is missing; lower jaw with coronoid extension. Nasal passages lie in front, large, preorbital opening small. Tibia hollow or solid. Their forelegs are much shorter than their hind legs. Pubis long, slender. (According to Zittel, abbreviated.)]
R. S. Lull 1924Toothless prcmaxilla ; anterior vertebrae opisthoccelous; sacrals coössified; postpubis very slender and shorter than ischium; sternum bony; femur longer than tibia; hand five-fingered, with spike-like pollex; foot four-toed, only ii, iii, and iv functional, as shown by associated footprints; Comanchian.
