Taxonomy
Pleurotomaria leysseri was named by Giebel (1856). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Lieskau Quarry, Halle, which is in a Triassic shallow subtidal limestone in Germany.

It was recombined as Worthenia leysseri by Philippi (1898).
