Taxonomy
Carcharodon nodai was named by Yabumoto (1989). Its type specimen is KMNH VP 100,145, a tooth, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Kattachi, Omuta City, which is in a Lutetian shoreface sandstone in the Kattachi Formation of Japan.
