Pectinites reticulatus was named by Schlotheim (1813).

It was recombined as Pecten reticulatus by Goldfuss (1833); it was recombined as Pecten (Velopecten) reticulatus by Diener (1923); it was recombined as Chlamys reticulata by Cox (1932).
