Taxonomy
Cancer amphioetus was named by Rathbun (1898). It is extant.

It was recombined as Cancer (Glebocarcinus) amphioetus by Nations (1975) and Karasawa (1993); it was recombined as Glebocarcinus amphioetus by Schweitzer and Feldmann (2000), Schweitzer et al. (2010) and Schweitzer and Feldmann (2019).
