It was reranked as the suborder Lemures by Gadow (1898); it was reranked as the suborder Lemuri by Jaekel (1911).

It was assigned to Primates by Gadow (1898); to Prosimiae by Gregory (1910); and to Prosimiae by Jaekel (1911).
