Dromasauria was named by Broom (1907). It is not extant.

It was corrected as Dromaeosauri by Jaekel (1911); it was reranked as the order Dromasauria by Roxo (1937); it was reranked as the infraorder Dromasauria by Broom (1913) and Carroll (1988).

It was assigned to Therapsidi by Jaekel (1911); to Chainosauria by Nopcsa (1923); to Therapsida by Broom (1913) and Roxo (1937); to Theromorpha by Swinton (1934) and Kuhn (1946); to Therapsida by Broom (1907), Gregory (1910) and Huene (1954); and to Dicynodontia by Carroll (1988).
