Taxonomy
Pheidole anticua was named by Casadei-Ferreira et al. (2019). Its type specimen is DZUP ANTWEB1038178, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Dominican amber, La Toca (DZUP coll), which is in a Burdigalian/Langhian terrestrial amber in the Dominican Republic.
