Glyptolepis quebecensis was named by Whiteaves (1889).

It was recombined as Holoptychius quebecensis by Hay (1902); it was recombined as Quebecius quebecensis by Schultze and Arsenault (1987) and Mondéjar‐Fernández et al. (2020).
