Xenorum was named by Blome (1984) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Nori-l Tr Nori-m Sepkoski's reference number: 707].

It was assigned to Eptingiidae by De Wever et al. (2001); and to Spumellaria by Sepkoski (2002).
