Rhogostomium was named by Schrammen (1937) [Sepkoski's age data: J Oxfo-l J Kimm-u Sepkoski's reference number: 775]. It is not extant. Its type is Rhogostomium corrugatum.

It was assigned to Hexactinosa by Sepkoski (2002) and Reid (2004).
