Taxonomy
Sonneratioxylon nawargaoensis was named by Bande and Prakash (1984). It is not extant. Its type specimen is BSIP 5930, a wood. Its type locality is Nawargaon, which is in a Paleogene fluvial-lacustrine horizon in the Deccan Intertrappean Formation of India.
It was corrected as Sonneratioxylon nawargaoense by Wheeler et al. (2017).
