Taxonomy
Lonchoptera eocenica was named by Amorim and Brown (2019). Its type specimen is USNM 625379, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Spring site, Middle Fork Flathead River (Kishenehn), which is in a Lutetian lacustrine - large shale in the Kishenehn Formation of Montana.
