It was assigned to Phasianidae by Livezey and Zusi (2007); to Galli by Worthy et al. (2017); to Galliformes by Olson (1972), Carroll (1988), Wang et al. (2013), del Hoyo et al. (2014) and Clements et al. (2017); and to Galliformes by Mayr (2022).
