Taxonomy
Saremmys ligcura was named by Busker et al. (2019). Its type specimen is MPEF-PV 11340, a mandible (left mandibular fragment with incisor, p4–m3), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Southern Cliff of lower Chubut River Valley, near Gaiman, which is in a Colhuehuapian paralic mudstone in the Sarmiento Formation of Argentina. It is the type species of Saremmys.
