Wollemannia was named by Schrammen (1912) [Sepkoski's age data: K Sant K Maes Sepkoski's reference number: 622]. It is not extant. Its type is Wollemannia araneosa.

It was assigned to Hexactinosa by Sepkoski (2002); and to Chonelasmatinae by Finks et al. (2004).
