Taxonomy
Cerithium laeviusculum was named by Gabb (1869) [DISTRIBUTION: Late Eocene; Peru.]. It is not a trace fossil. It is the type species of Iddingsia.

It was recombined as Cerithium (Iddingsia) laeviusculum by Olsson (1929); it was recombined as Iddingsella laeviusculum by Olsson (1944); it was recombined as Iddingsia laeviusculum by Perrilliat et al. (2006).
