Taxonomy
Thinocoridae was named by Gray (1845). It is extant. Its type is Thinocorus.

It was assigned to Thinocoroidea by Livezey and Zusi (2007); to Charadriiformes by Carroll (1988) and Clements et al. (2017); and to Scolopaci by del Hoyo et al. (2014) and Mayr (2022).
