Candinia pliocaenica
Taxonomy
Candinia pliocaenica was named by Le Renard et al. (1996). Its type specimen is MZB 11617A, a valve (left valve), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Poggio alla Staffa, near Pietrafitta (Colle di Val d'Elsa), which is in a Zanclean/Piacenzian coastal sandstone in Italy. It is the type species of Candinia.
