Taxonomy

Psalodon was named by Simpson (1926). Its type is Ctenacodon potens.

It was assigned to Plagiaulacidae by Simpson (1929), Hay (1930), Hahn (1971), Clemens and Kielan-Jaworowska (1979) and McKenna and Bell (1997); and to Allodontidae by Martin and Foster (1998), Kielan-Jaworowska and Hurum (2001) and Kielan-Jaworowska et al. (2004).
