Taxonomy

Eucosmodon was named by Matthew and Granger (1921). It is not extant. Its type is Neoplagiaulax americanus. It is the type genus of Eucosmodontidae.

It was assigned to Ptilodontidae by Hay (1930); and to Eucosmodontidae by Matthew and Granger (1921), McKenna and Bell (1997) and Kielan-Jaworowska and Hurum (2001).
