Epitherium eversus was named by Soria (2001) [Epitherium? eversus]. Its type specimen is MACN A-5866, a set of teeth (porción lingual de M1 o M2 izquierdo.), and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Diadiaphorus eversus by Ameghino (1898) and Schmidt (2015).
