Taxonomy
Pelicopsis was named by Simpson (1927). Its type is Pelicopsis dubius.

It was synonymized subjectively with Tathiodon by Kielan-Jaworowska et al. (2004).

It was assigned to Paurodontidae by Prothero (1981); and to Dryolestidae by Simpson (1927), Simpson (1929), Hay (1930), Kraus (1979) and McKenna and Bell (1997).
