Diagnosis

---|---|---|
M. Moreno-Azanza et al. 2014 | Egg shape and size unknown. Thin spher- oolithid eggshell (420e1500 mm including ornamentation). Prolatospherulitic shell units that fuse with adjacent units at one third of the eggshell thickness. The spherulites have an acicular radial ultrastructure, separated by an irregular boundary from the overlying region of radial tabular structure (ratio 1:3). Wavy accretion lines are observed in the upper two-thirds of the eggshell, coarsely following the eggshell surface. Pairs of fused shell units are frequent, also discernable in the inner surface. The outer surface displays prominent sagenotuberculate ornamentation, which comprises one fifth to one third of the eggshell thickness. |
