Orthodiscus was named by Schrammen (1924) [Sepkoski's age data: K Turo K Maes Sepkoski's reference number: 641]. It is not extant. Its type is Orthodiscus fragilis.
It was assigned to Ventriculitinae by Lagneau-Herenger (1962); and to Lychniscosa by Sepkoski (2002).
