Naranius was named by Russell and Dashzeveg (1986). It is not extant. Its type is Naranius infrequens.
It was assigned to Didelphodontinae by Russell and Dashzeveg (1986); to Palaeoryctidae by Carroll (1988); and to Cimolestidae by Lopatin (2006) and Beard and Dawson (2009).
