Taxonomy
Procerberus was named by Sloan and Van Valen (1965). It is not extant. It was considered monophyletic by Rook et al. (2010).
It was assigned to Procerberinae by Sloan and Van Valen (1965) and Van Valen (1967); to Palaeoryctidae by Kielan-Jaworowska et al. (1979); and to Cimolestidae by McKenna and Bell (1997), Kielan-Jaworowska et al. (2004), Lopatin (2006), Rook et al. (2010) and Williamson et al. (2011).
