Myrmecoboides was named by Gidley (1915). It is not extant. Its type is Myrmecoboides montanensis.
It was assigned to Leptictinae by Van Valen (1967); and to Leptictidae by Gidley (1915), Hay (1930) and McKenna and Bell (1997).
