Taxonomy
Pithonoton cardwelli was named by Armstrong et al. (2009). Its type specimen is NPL31155 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Quarry west of Mexia, which is in a Danian marine claystone in the Wills Point Formation of Texas.
