Remiculus was named by Russell (1964). It is not extant. It was considered monophyletic by Jones and Beard (2023).
It was assigned to Mixodectidae by Van Valen (1967), Szalay (1969) and Carroll (1988); to Dermoptera by Gunnell (1989); to Nyctitheriinae by Lopatin (2006); to Adapisoriculidae by Gheerbrant (1995), Smith et al. (2010) and De Bast et al. (2012); and to Placentidentinae by Beard and Dawson (2009) and Jones and Beard (2023).
