Lunatia oregonensis was named by Conrad (1865). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Natica (Cryptonatica) oregonensis by Marincovich (1977); it was recombined as Cryptonatica oregonensis by Moore (1963) and Hendy (2020).
