Taxonomy
Corticulospongia was named by Rigby and Chatterton (1989) [Sepkoski's age data: S Ludl-l Sepkoski's reference number: 880]. It is not extant. Its type is Corticulospongia floccosa.

It was assigned to Euplectellidae by Rigby and Chatterton (1989); to Lyssacinosida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Docodermatidae by Finks and Rigby (2004).
