Hibbarderix was named by Martin and Green (1984). It is not extant. Its type is Hibbarderix obfuscatus.
It was assigned to Plesiosoricidae by McKenna and Bell (1997); to Erinaceinae by Martin and Green (1984) and Ziegler (2009); and to Erinaceidae by Korth and Evander (2016).
